2008 KFX®700

The big easy V-twin sport is less work and more play

It’s simple to see why the KFX®700 all-terrain vehicle (ATV) continues to be a hit with off-roaders. The winning formula of Kawasaki’s powerful V-twin engine and automatic transmission coupled with a racing-style chassis adds up to a sport ATV that offers aggressive all-day riding that is fun and easy for a wide range of riders.

At the heart of the KFX700’s power and performance is its engine. The liquid-cooled, 697cc, four-stroke, 90-degree V-twin is matched to a performance-tuned continuously variable automatic transmission. The combination eliminates shifting concerns because it’s in the optimum powerband at all times. This allows the rider to focus even more attention on choosing good lines, whether it’s on the race track or trail.

Other features include shaft drive, powerful dual front disc brakes and Kawasaki’s sealed, oil-bathed, multi-disc rear brake system. The KFX700 also features a racing-inspired single lower front frame tube –the design preferred by cross-country ATV racers.

Up front the dual A-arms feature 9.3 inches of travel while providing optimum handling with minimal “tire scrub” during up-and-down suspension travel. Rear suspension duties are handled by a motocross-inspired alloy swingarm with a piggy-back reservoir shock and 7.9 inches of travel. The KFX700 is shod with the ITP® Holeshot® tires to gain maximum traction and maneuverability.

Rounding out the features list are sport-style serrated footpegs, a protective engine skid plate and powerful 45-watt headlights.

2008 KFX®450R

NEW 2008 KFX®450R INTRODUCES ATV COMMUNITY TO KAWASAKI RACING TECHNOLOGY Motocross performance based on the World Champion KX™450F

Take the short cut to the circuit with the all-new Kawasaki KFX®450R ATV. This high performance machine doesn’t require extensive and expensive modifications to make it race-ready, because it already includes all the race-winning performance and technology required for success straight out of the crate.

The KFX450R’s design incorporates everything riders need to win races. Every component was chosen to maximize performance on the track or in the woods and to minimize the fuss of getting there. This highly advanced racing ATV comes with all the performance and technology necessary to put riders at the head of the pack.

The KFX450R ATV uses a powerplant based on Kawasaki’s highly acclaimed KX™450F motocross engine. With the addition of an efficient and highly-responsive 32-bit digital fuel injection system, the KFX450R’s engine produces more torque in the low and medium rpm ranges for outstanding hole-shot acceleration. The use of fuel injection helps ensure that the engine’s performance remains consistent and is virtually unaffected by changes in temperature or altitude. This ATV’s ability to find traction is superb, and its four-stroke torque helps keep the wheels hooked-up for improved handling and higher corner speeds. Other race-ready features include a lightweight titanium exhaust header pipe and a durable forged piston.

Winning at the track depends on a chassis that’s built to handle tough race conditions. The KFX450R offers the full benefits of an all-aluminium frame, combining exceptionally light weight with the extreme stiffness needed to win races. However, it isn’t just advanced materials that give the KFX450R its race-winning edge. The front suspension design incorporates extremely long lower A-arms mounted to a single box-section lower frame tube. This results in outstanding response from the front-end. At the rear is a cast aluminium swingarm that provides the ideal balance of flexibility and rigidity resulting in unparalleled traction. The high-tech chassis also features a very low center of gravity and excellent roll resistance. Regardless of changing conditions or rough track surfaces, this race-oriented chassis makes the KFX450R a potent weapon in the battle for ATV supremacy.

Competition-oriented equipment, including the only reverse gear in its class, helps keep the KFX fast and reliable. Previously unheard of in racing, the KFX 450R’s lightweight reverse system lets riders quickly extricate themselves from first turn chaos or dead-end trails. This important feature means on-track incidents (like getting nosed-into a wall) no longer result in an early retirement from the race.

Kawasaki has also made the KFX450R easy to work on, so riders can concentrate on winning instead of wrenching. The two-piece front and rear “lapped” fenders make it possible to replace sections separately if they get damaged. Even the headlight assembly is quickly detachable for closed-course races, and the compact design means that the ATV looks just as aggressive with or without headlights. These features leave little doubt that the new KFX450R was designed to get its rider on the racetrack and winning races as quickly as possible.

2008 Brute Force® 650 4x4

This category offers enthusiasts some nice big-bore all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) with single-cylinder engines and four-wheel drive, but the Brute Force® 650 4x4 offers just a little bit more. It comes with Kawasaki’s legendary V-twin engine, a proven 4x4 system and rugged angular looks — and does it for about the same price.

Powering the Brute Force 650 4x4 is Kawasaki’s highly praised liquid-cooled 633cc, 90-degree V-twin engine with single overhead cams and four valves per cylinder. It is fed by dual 32mm Keihin carburetors that draw fresh air from a snorkel intake located high in the frame near the steering head. These powerplant features add up to provide the rider with industry-leading torque and smooth-running operation unmatched by the competition.

From the V-twin engine, power flows through Kawasaki’s much-acclaimed fully automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT). With low and high forward, neutral and reverse gears, this dependable transmission functions seamlessly, providing excellent control for both low- and high-speed work or recreational riding. Plus, the Brute Force 650 4x4 can also be started in any gear when the brakes are applied.

Complementing the CVT is a switch on the right handle bar that permits the rider to switch between two-wheel and four-wheel drive operation, and power is delivered to the wheels via dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive. In normal four-wheel drive mode, the front wheels provide extra traction for adverse terrain, while the limited-slip differential allows the rider to make tight turns and reduces steering effort.

Best of all, the Brute Force 650 4x4 includes Kawasaki’s Variable Front Differential Control, a favorite feature often praised by editors of the leading ATV magazines. By pulling a small lever on the left handlebar, the rider can deliver equal amounts of power to both front wheels, a definite advantage for riders encountering deep mud and slippery uphill trails or when traversing over large objects such as logs or rocks.

The Brute Force 650 4x4 braking system is another example of cutting-edge Kawasaki design. Dual front disc brakes with dual-piston calipers are matched to Kawasaki’s sealed, oil-bathed, multi-disc rear brake system. As an integrated part of the shaft drive, the rear braking system is sealed in the aluminum swingarm where it operates in an oil bath. This protects the brake pads from mud, dust and debris, and is virtually maintenance-free.

Enhancing the high-performance brakes is the Kawasaki Engine Brake Control system, which electronically monitors ground speed and uses the engine’s compression to help slow the Brute Force ATV under certain conditions.

Plush and controlled rides are the Kawasaki 4x4 ATVs’ forte and the Brute Force 650 4x4 exemplifies this tradition. It does this with MacPherson strut suspension with 6.7 inches of travel up front and an aluminum swingarm featuring a preload adjustable shock with a piggy-back reservoir and 7.2 inches of travel handles the rear suspension duties.

Additional comfort is provided by a large saddle and adjustable footpegs mounted atop full-size floorboards. To help reduce unsprung weight and further enhance the smooth ride, the Brute Force rolls on aluminum wheels.

With its modern, aggressively angled lines complemented by cat-eye headlights, the bodywork is made from Thermo-Plastic Olefin, which has an ultra-high gloss appearance and is scratch-resistant.

Other features include front and rear steel racks that can carry a total of 264 pounds of cargo, and a tow hitch so it can tow up to 1,250 pounds. Kawasaki engineers also provided space inside the front guard so it can accommodate a 3000-pound capacity winch from Warn or Superwinch.

The Brute Force 650 4x4 comes with fully digital instrumentation, including speedometer, odometer, dual resettable trip meters, clock, hour meter, fuel gauge and 2x4/4x4 indicators. There is also a DC power outlet to provide quick and easy power for electrical accessories.

Authentic Kawasaki Accessories are available through Kawasaki dealers.

Kawasaki will pay first-time buyers of a new Kawasaki ATV $100 for completing an ATV rider safety course conducted by the ATV Safety Institute (ASI). 2008 Brute Force® 650 4x4i

Kawasaki’s Brute Force® 650 4x4i ATV is the hidden gem in the Kawasaki family of V-twin powered sport-utility all-terrain vehicles. It combines a plush ride that is a natural outcome of its front and rear independent suspension with the superb qualities of its four-wheel drive and durable and powerful 633cc engine to be a “win-win” for owners.

Thanks to its 90-degree, liquid-cooled four-stroke powerplant, this ATV will shine under the most grueling circumstances in both low-to-mid range and high rpm ranges and will be ready to answer any requests by its target audience of adventure enthusiasts and sportsmen. The engine has a bore and stroke of 80mm x 63mm, linerless aluminum cylinders based on its big brother’s and a lightweight crankshaft.

Less weight is always a good thing, so to keep the pounds off Kawasaki engineers used aluminum in the construction of the front exhaust pipe cover, two-piece center exhaust pipe cover, and the muffler cover. Among the other features designed into the Brute Force 650 4x4i to optimize the power-to-weight ratio are drilled transmission gears to lighten their overall weight.

The chassis has an optimized caster angle for the front A-arms—upper and lower—to provide light and responsive steering as well as excellent ground-following abilities. Shock absorber spring rates and initial preload settings for both front and rear are also set for excellent ride comfort, which was also boosted on the Brute Force 650 4x4i via its softer urethane seat foam cushion.

The Brute Force 650 4x4i gets the power from its V-twin engine transfered to the wheels through a dual range continuously variable transmission (CVT) featuring high, low and reverse. Two- or four-wheel drive is selectable by the rider simply pressing a handlebar-mounted button.

Stopping the 650 4x4i are dual 200mm front discs and an enclosed wet multi-plate rear brake system. The able ATV has a towing capacity of a hefty 1,250 pounds, and it can carry a combined 264 pounds on its front and rear racks.

It may be the slightly smaller one in Kawasaki’s stable of IRS-equipped ATVs, but it doesn’t sacrifice anything in the “looks” department. Like its brethren, the Brute Force 650 4x4i sports a rugged, take-on-anything appearance with a front guard design that will both attract onlookers and satisfy owners. It can be clad in Woodsman Green, Super Black, Sunbeam Red, Candy Thunder Blue or Realtree Hardwoods Green® HD™ camouflage.

Authentic Kawasaki Accessories for the 2008 Brute Force 650 4x4i are available through Kawasaki dealers.

As with all off-highway vehicle recreation, Kawasaki encourages ATV riders to ride responsibly and to respect the environment. Kawasaki will pay first-time buyers of a new Kawasaki ATV $100 for completing an ATV rider safety course conducted by the ATV Safety Institute (ASI).
